powerbook 1400 floppy/cd module The floppy/CD-ROM module slides in and out quite smoothly and solidly from the front. The battery on the left does so in exactly the same way. Just today I tried out the CD-ROM module and I must say that either I got a defective unit or it sucks real bad! The button on the front of the CD-ROM tray has no sort of "clickiness" to it to indicate whether it's triggered or not. But much worse is the fact that the slide-out tray doesn't stay closed! If I hold in the tray for say, 10 seconds, it'll spin up and the icon will show on the Desktop but in most instances, as soon as I let go, the tray pops right back out with the CD-ROM still spinning! I think these CD-ROM modules oughta be recalled!
